Another Place and Time: The 1960s - 1970s

Were you a hippie? Or do you have pictures of your relatives dressed in those classic hippie fashions... bell bottoms, headbands, halter tops, hot pants, and lots of flower power??? If so, you'll appreciate and enjoy the digital scrapbooking kits I have to show you today!

The first kit is called the Groovy 70s Psychedelic Kit. There's a basic kit and an add-on. Check this out!

Aren't these great? Don't they take you back??? I love 'em! You can download them here and here from Deltapdawn's blog Scrapping 'Til Dawn blog.

And if you're feelin' groovy, you can head on over and pick up another terrific hippie-era kit too! This one is called... Feelin Groovy. You can get the download from Peachy Keen's Digital Scraps blog. Isn't it rad? I have just the pictures to use with this kit! Great earth-day colors!
Remember, I can't guarantee how long these designers will have these freebies available so if you're interested in them go get them now! You'll be sorry later if you don't ;-) And remember to say thank you to the designers. They'll enjoy hearing from you.

Now turn on your oldies radio station and go get creative with your genealogy!

Another Place and Time: Russia, Lake Tahoe

Have you noticed that it's cold outside? Well it's certainly cold here! That might have something to do with the fact that it's winter. No better time to be indoors keeping warm and getting creative with your genealogy!

Today we have a couple of winter kits that may be useful to you for scrapbooking family photos. The first is called Winter in Russia. It was created by Kyra at the With a Russian/Dutch Heart blog. Here's the preview.
This is a personal favorite of mine. I love the colors and the ethnic feel. My Polish grandfather was actually born in what was Russia at the time (the borders changed over time). And really, culture knows no borders. The folk art from Russia is very similar to the folk art from Poland, Slovakia, Lithuania, etc. It all makes for beautiful scrapbook pages! You can download the kit here (just scroll down 10 rows and click on the text below the preview image). Enjoy!

Next up we have a beautiful winter kit with a Lake Tahoe theme. Got any skiing pictures? How about family vacation photos from the Tahoe area? How about dreaming of Tahoe vacation pictures? How about sledding or building a snowman photos? From Jane at the My Scrapping Life blog we have Tahoe on Ice. Here's the preview. This kit has more to it than what you see here. It come in three downloads which you can get here, here, and here. This is a wonderful and versatile kit for all your winter photos. There are a total of 19 backgrounds and loads of elements too! I know you have some winter family photos... get 'em out and play with them!

Now go get creative with your genealogy!

An Honor for Creative Genealogy

Kimberly Powell, author of About.com:Genealogy, has come up with "10 Genealogy Blogs Worth Reading". It's a great list and I have to agree with her that choosing 10 blogs from among the wonderful and talented group of genealogy bloggers online is no easy feat. But she's come up with a wonderful sampling of that talent! Check it out and see if you don't agree.

The Creative Genealogy blog was one of those that made her list... {grin} She was also kind enough to mention and link to my Creative Gene blog as well. THANK YOU FOR THE RECOGNITION KIMBERLY!

Another Place and Time: Chanukah, Christmas, New Years!

Has it really been over a month since I've shared any tips for getting creative with your genealogy? Well shame on me!

The Christmas and Chanukah holidays are behind us for a few months but hey, there's always next year! On that note I'm going to share some holiday scrapbook kits with you so that you can scrap the memories of your most recent holiday and share them with your loved ones next holiday season.

First off I have a Chanukah kit called Chanukah Joys by CanDee that is very elegant. You can get the download link to Part 1 and Part 2 on her blog. Isn't it lovely?

And next up we have a HUGE Victorian Christmas kit I know you'll love. This kit is from the Winged Heart Ohio blog. It was created last year and re-released this year... with an add-on! Check out the previews...

You can find the download link for the main kit here and the add-on here. Isn't it just great?!!!

And just to round out the holiday season, I have a New Year's kit for you. This is a great timeless kit all done in black and white... tres chic!

It's called New Beginnings from the Raspberry Road Designs blog. Head on over and get it for yourself here! This is obviously a very versatile kit that you can use for both vintage and contemporary photos. Color photos would pop on these backgrounds!

I am constantly amazed at how generous these designers are to share their talents for free. They live for kind comments so please don't forget to drop them a note of thanks when you download!
